Created in 2009, the Quinteto Respiro is formed by five musicians who met during their training at the conservatories of Lyon, Paris, Geneva and Zurich. It was during a master-class given by the great Argentine pianist and composer Gustavo Beytelmann that their passion for Argentine music was born.

This decisive meeting will influence their artistic direction, as well as their musical choices.

Working for several years now in close collaboration with M.Beytelmann, but having also received the teaching of great Argentinian masters such as JJ Mosalini, Ramiro Gallo, or even the Orquesta Tipica Silencio, Quinteto Respiro seeks through its repertoire to give to the public programs presenting the Tango as a musical form resolutely concertante and in perpetual evolution, while respecting to the letter the codes and the conventions which chair the purest tradition of this music.

The music of Quinteto Respiro is as much about the traditional tango repertoire for the ballroom as it is about its most contemporary and daring forms. The music of Quinteto Respiro is without preconceived ideas or boundaries and presents itself to the listener as a journey through the history of the evolution of tango as a musical style in its own way.

The Quinteto Respiro performs regularly in concert, mainly in France and Switzerland, in many prestigious festivals such as the Festival de Musique de Menton, the Printemps Musical des Alizés (Essaouira), the Festival Jeunes Talents (Paris), or the Lille Piano(s) Festival. Winners of the 2016 FNAPEC competition in Paris, they notably received the congratulations and encouragement of Jean- Claude Casadesus. They also had the opportunity to perform live on France Musique.

Eager for daring experiments, they have been working since 2016 on a project of orchestral arrangements from their own Quintet repertoire, in order to propose a program including their formation within a symphony orchestra. In March 2018, they gave their first concert performance of this new repertoire as soloists with the Orchestre National de Lille.

The same program is given in October 2018 accompanied by the National Orchestra of Lyon.

Their first album, Encuentro, was released in 2015, and features a wide range of repertoire, from traditional tangos and milongas, to innovative compositions by Gustavo Beytelmann.

Quinteto Respiro records in 2019 Herencia, released by Klarthe Records Label.

In 2021 Quinteto Respiro wins Grand Prize PORTEÑO AWARD (International Piazzolla Music Competition).
